Editing and Uploading HTML files is an easy way to get started creating a website on your computer at home. This is how you securely upload your website’s HTML files to your web hosting account using SFTP everytime you edit or update the files on your computer.

You’ll need to download a SFTP software program for your computer. FileZilla is my personal favorite. It’s free and available on Windows and Macintosh computers. All you need from your web hosting account is the ip address or hostname. Hostinger makes this very easy to find, and I highly recommend you give them a try as they have a 30-day money back guarantee. The easiest way find your login and password info is to just google “how to sftp files Hostinger” Once connected, you should see the local html files on your machine and a public_html folder on the server. You may find it easiest to simply drag and drop your HTML files from your computer to the web hosting account, aka remote web server. Filezilla also has an upload button where you can select files individually. After you upload the HTML file(s), open up Chrome, Safari, Bing, or whatever web browser you use and enter the domain name of your website. That’s it! You just created and uploaded your first website. Please ask me questions if you have any.
